Kwa muda mrefu maEngineer wa magari wamekuwa wakikuna vichwa ni namna gani wanaweza tengeneza gari isiyotumia mafuta lakini wakashindwa.  Lakini kwa sasa hii itakuwa habari njema kwao kwani gari inayotumia mfumo wa hewa ipo njiani kuingia sokoni kufuatia makubaliano yaliyotiwa saini na kampuni kubwa ya magari ya Tata ya nchini India.

Magari hayo ambayo yamepewa jina la MiniC.A.T yameindwa kwa mfumo rahisi huku bodi yake ikiwa imeshikanishwa na Gundi badala ya kuchomelewa kwa vyuma. Pia imeundwa na mifumo ya kielectroniki ili kurahisisha huduma za mawasiliano kwa njia ya compyuta. Ili uendeshe gari hiyo huitaji kuwa na funguo nyingi bali ni kadi yako tu ambayo kila gari huwa na kadi yake maalum.

Sifa kuu ya gari hiyo ni pamoja na  uwezo wake mkubwa wa kutumia  mafuta kidogokwa umbali mrefu. Inakadiriwa gari hiyo inauwezo wa kutembea kilomita 100 kwa lita mbili huku ikiwa inauwezo wa juu kukimbia mwendokasi wa 68mph.

Wabunifu wa gari hiyo wamebainisha kuwa, gari hilo ni rafiki wa mazingira kwani haitoi gesi  moshi inayochafua  mazingira.

Watu wengi nchini India wameanza kuitumia gari hiyo katika safari ndogo ndogo hasa za katikati ya miji mikubwa.

AIR CAR TO BE BULT SOON.

Many respected engineers have been trying for years to bring a compressed air car to market, believing strongly that compressed air can power a viable "zero pollution" car. Now the first commercial compressed air car is on the verge of production and beginning to attract a lot of attention, and with a recently signed partnership with Tata, India’s largest automotive manufacturer, the prospects of very cost-effective mass production are now a distinct possibility. The Mini C.A.T is a simple, light urban car, with a tubular chassis that is glued not welded and a body of fiberglass. The heart of the electronic and communication system on the car is a computer offering an array of information reports that extends well beyond the speed of the vehicle, and is built to integrate with external systems and almost anything you could dream of, starting with voice recognition, internet connectivity, GSM telephone connectivity, a GPS guidance system, fleet management systems, emergency systems, and of course every form of digital entertainment. The engine is fascinating, as is and the revolutionary electrical system that uses just one cable and so is the vehicle’s wireless control system. Microcontrollers are used in every device in the car, so one tiny radio transmitter sends instructions to the lights, indicators etc

There are no keys – just an access card which can be read by the car from your pocket.

Most importantly, it is incredibly cost-efficient to run – according to the designers, it costs less than one Euro per 100Km (about a tenth that of a petrol car). Its mileage is about double that of the most advanced electric car (200 to 300 km or 10 hours of driving), a factor which makes a perfect choice in cities where the 80% of motorists drive at less than 60Km. The car has a top speed of 68 mph.

Refilling the car will, once the market develops, take place at adapted petrol stations to administer compressed air. In two or three minutes, and at a cost of approximately 1.5 Euros, the car will be ready to go another 200-300 kilometres.

As a viable alternative, the car carries a small compressor which can be connected to the mains (220V or 380V) and refill the tank in 3-4 hours.

Due to the absence of combustion and, consequently, of residues, changing the oil (1 litre of vegetable oil) is necessary only every 50,000 Km.

The temperature of the clean air expelled by the exhaust pipe is between 0 - 15 degrees below zero, which makes it suitable for use by the internal air conditioning system with no need for gases or loss of power.

How does it work?

90m3 of compressed air is stored in fibre tanks. The expansion of this air pushes the pistons and creates movement. The atmospheric temperature is used to re-heat the engine and increase the road coverage. The air conditioning system makes use of the expelled cold air. Due to the absence of combustion and the fact there is no pollution, the oil change is only necessary every 31.000 miles.

At the moment, four models have been made: a car, a taxi (5 passengers), a Pick-Up truck and a van. The final selling price will be approximately 5.500 pounds.

Wanasayansi watatu Pranav Mistry, Pattie Maes na Liyan Chang kutoka kituo cha MIT’s wamefanikiwa kutengeneza Computer Mouse ambayo ni ya nadharia na huwezi kuishika wala kuiona.

Kifaa hicho ambacho kina uwezo wa kusajiri mkono wa mtumiaji kompyuta na kutafsiri mwenendo wa mtumiaji pindi anapobofya kitufe cha kompyuta.  Kompyuta hiyo hutumia miale ya mwanga na  kamera kurekodi muelekeo wa mkono wa  mtumiaji pindi anapobofya mara moja(click) au kubofya mara mbili(double click) kitufe cha Kompyuta.

Hata hivyo watafiti hao bado wanaendelea kuiboresha Mouse hiyo kabla haijaingia rasmi sokoni .

INVISIBLE COMPUTER MOUSE.

Pranav Mistry, Pattie Maes and Liyan Chang from MIT's Media Lab have managed to create an invisible computer mouse for just a few dollars. Using an Infrared laser and tracking camera, the Mouseless system registers and interprets a user's hand movement and translates it into onscreen actions such as cursor movement and button clicking.

While others take the familiar input peripheral to new levels by cramming as many buttons as many buttons as possible onto it or making the surface available for multi-touch interaction surface or even moving the whole experience to the end of a user’s leg , Pranav Mistry and colleagues have dispensed with its physical form altogether.

With their Mouse less prototype, a user's hand movements are tracked with a line-capped Infrared laser beam and an Infrared camera. The beam's plane is aimed just above the surface of the user area and when the user cups the hand, as if holding a physical mouse, this breaks the beam at the points where each finger touches the surface The camera then registers and interprets the changing field shapes and translates them into movement or action, such as clicking and double-clicking.

The developers are continuing to improve the tracking and recognition algorithms to build up a library of commands, possibly leading to multi-touch gesturing in addition to simple click confirmation.

The prototype system is said to have cost just US$20 to put together and can be seen in action in the following demonstration.

Wakati  nchi masikini tukiwa katika hali ya giza,huko Ujerumani wanasayansi katika chuo cha Heriot-Watt wamegundua njia mbadala wa kuzalisha umeme kutokana na mkojo wa binaadamu.

Wakemia Shanwen Tao na Rong Lan waliogundua chanzo hicho wamesema kwamba mkojo wa binaadamu una kemikali za hydrogen na methanol ambazo hupatikana baada ya mwili kusharabu chakula cha protein. Methano na hydrogen ni moja ya vyanzo vizuri vya kuzalisha umeme wa betri.

Walifafanua zaidi kwamba nishati hiyo ni nafuu maana haizalishi taka sumu katika mazingira na usafirishaji wake ni rahisi.

URINE- NEW SOURCE FOR ELECTRIC POWER

Edinburgh scientists sure know where to look for renewable energy. Recently they figured out a way to make bio fuel from whiskey byproducts, and now a different team is hard at work on what promises to be the world's first urine-powered fuel cells.

Chemistry post docs Shanwen Tao and Rong Lan at Heriot-Watt University's School of Engineering and Physical Sciences in Edinburgh are turning pee into electricity and clean water with a prototype fuel cell system. I had heard about pee-power for robots, but not pee-power for everyone.

I don't tend to highlight fuel cell tech very often because the process has been so ridiculously expensive and tricky. Fuel cells usually rely on flammable hydrogen gas or toxic methanol to generate electricity, but Tao and Lan's cheaper prototype relies instead on urea, an organic chemical compound produced as waste when the body metabolizes protein.

Urea, also called "carbamide," has several advantages as a potential fuel source. It's abundant, non-toxic, relatively straightforward to transport -- when we're not already transporting it, if you know what I mean -- and rich in nitrogen. According to the university, Tao thought about incorporating urea because he had seen it used as a fertilizer while growing up in eastern China.

Sababu kubwa wavutaji wanayojitetea nayo juu ya kupenda kiurudisho hicho ni kwa kile wakielezacho kwamba sigara inapunguza sana msongo wa mawazo’stress’!

Lakini cha kushangaza ni kwamba utafiti uliofanywa na chuo cha London School of Medicine and Dentistry nchini Uingereza unaonyesha kuwa matumizi ya sigara yametoa mchango mkubwa katika kuchangia mfadhaiko wa akili ya mtumiaji.

WHY SMOKING IS HARMFUL?

Despite of being prohibited by many authorities, consumption of cigarette product is increasing remarkably around the globe. Apart from cigarette manufacturers providing little information about the danger of too much smoking in their brand, but smokers have deafen their ears not to accept the truth.

Their claim is, and always will be ‘smoking reduces stresses but have they real thought about the side effect of it?

But studies have found, however, that in reality, lighting up has the opposite effect, causing long-term stress level to rise.

My motto to those who are dependent on smoking is, the only stress it relieves is to with draw from cigarettes, as the study conducted at London School of Medicine and Dentistry suggests.

Bwana Schmidt aliweka wazi hofu yake hiyo mjini London august 18, 2010 alipoishutumu kampuni ya Facebook kwa kuruhusu watumiaji wake kuweka kumbu kumbu zao bila mpangilio maalumu hali ambayo inawafanya wawe na wakati mgumu katika kufuatilia miendendo ya uhifandhi wa kumbu kumbu hizo.

Akiongea na jarida la Wall Street la Nchini Uingereza Schmidt alisema ” Sijui kama jamii inaelewa madhara yatakayotokea hapo baadaye kama kila kitu kitakuwa wazi, usalama wa kumbu kumbu umezidi kuwa  dhaifu, nafikiri tunahitaji kuliangalia hili kwa umakini zaidi”. Alikaririwa.

GOOGLE AGAINST FACEBOOK

 Eric Schmidt, the chief executive of Google, has issued a stark warning over the amount of personal data people leave on the internet and suggested that many of them will be forced one day to change their names in order to escape their cyber past, The Independent learned.
In a startling admission from a man whose company has made billions by perfecting the art of hoarding, storing and retrieving information on us, Mr Schmidt suggested that the enormous quantity of detail we leave online may not be such a good thing after all.
The man who – alongside Google's founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page – runs the world's largest search engine said that young people will need to go as far as changing their identities if they are to truly erase what they have left online.
"I don't believe society understands what happens when everything is available, knowable and recorded by everyone all the time," he told the Wall Street Journal. "I mean we really have to think about these things as a society."
For a man whose company is built on the ability to store information and retrieve it again in a faster and more efficient way than its rivals, Mr Schmidt's admission revealed a surprising concern among Google's leadership over the importance of data privacy.
But it has also provoked a wider debate on the sheer amount of information we give away about ourselves online and how most of that data is virtually un-erasable.
